Our adaptation of A Christmas Carol is a little different than Dickens’ traditional “ghostly little book”. As in the original story, Scrooge realizes what his life has become, and literally comes to the end of himself. But instead of merely deciding to change his miserly ways, our Scrooge chooses to make God the center of his life, and “nothing will ever be the same again!”

The Christmas tradition returns to the King Opera House stage for the 11th time, as Earthen Vessels Drama Company, a ministry of Shady Grove Baptist Church, Van Buren, presents their adaptation of Dickens’ classic tale. Every detail is carefully crafted, from inspiring portrayals and period costumes, to choral arrangements and creative effects, and relates the story of one fateful night when Ebenezer Scrooge finds hope, redemption, and the true spirit of Christmas that transforms his life.

Earthen Vessels Drama Co is a ministry of Shady Grove Baptist Church (located just North of Van Buren, Arkansas). We’re known for our two productions, Catacombs and A Christmas Carol.

Our name comes from 2 Corinthians 4:7 – “But we have this treasure in EARTHEN VESSELS, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.”

Since 2000, we have produced two plays, Catacombs and A Christmas Carol, for a total of 16 productions, and over 78 individual shows!
